Terry Caves has practiced law with Caves & Caves, PLLC for 40 years. He has extensive experience in real estate closings, complex real estate transactions, real estate litigation, contract law and litigation, school/education law, bond issues, bond financing, government law, administrative law, wills and estates, family law and banking law. During his career he has tried hundreds of cases in the area of real estate, contracts, school/education law, tort, banking, family law and general litigation. He was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 1983 and is a partner with Caves & Caves PLLC. He is admitted to practice in all State and Federal courts in Mississippi, as well as the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Caves attended Jones County Junior College and obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The University of Mississippi in 1980 and his Juris Doctorate from The University of Mississippi School of Law in 1983, where he graduated cum laude.

He is a member of the Counsel of School Attorneys and the Jones County Bar Association. He is a past member of the Board of Directors University of Mississippi Alumni Association, a title insurance agent for Old Republic Title Insurance Company and First American Title Insurance Company. Terry is an associate member of the Laurel Board of Realtors and is “Best Practices” certified.

A lifelong resident of Laurel, Mr. Caves is active in the community. Along with his wife, he is a member of First Baptist Church of Laurel. Mr. Caves is a member of the Economic Development Authority of Jones County, and the Leadership Jones County Alumni Association.

Risher Caves was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 2013 and is an associate with Caves & Caves PLLC. His litigation practice is focused on general civil litigation, business litigation, complex real estate transactions, real estate litigation, contract law, and litigation, government law, school/education law, labor and employment law, administrative law, wills and estates, appellate litigation, estate litigation, and family law. He is admitted to practice in all State and Federal courts in Mississippi, as well as the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Caves obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Mississippi in 2010 and his Juris Doctorate from The University of Mississippi School of Law in 2013, where he graduated cum laude.

As a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society in law school, Mr. Caves served as Associate Cases Editor for The Mississippi Law Journal and competed for The Moot Court Board as a member of the Labor & Employment Competition Team. In 2012, Mr. Caves served as a law clerk for the Mississippi Supreme Court.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Counsel of School Attorneys, the Jones County Bar Association, and the Jones County Young Lawyers Association. He is a title insurance agent for Mississippi Valley Title Insurance Company and First American Title Insurance Company. Risher is American Land Title Association “Best Practices” certified.

A lifelong resident of Laurel, Mr. Caves is active in the community. Along with his wife and two children, he is a member of First Baptist Church of Laurel. Mr. Caves is also a member of several local philanthropic organizations, including the Laurel Rotary Club, Sertoma Club, Jones County Chamber of Commerce, Laurel Main Street, Leadership Jones County, and Laurel Board of Realtors.

J. Mason Wood

Mason Wood was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 2018 and is an attorney with Caves & Caves PLLC.  Mr. Wood’s litigation practice is focused on general civil litigation, real estate litigation, business litigation, estate litigation, and family law.  He also has an extensive transactional practice focused on residential and commercial real estate transactions, foreclosures, contracts, estate planning, and business formations.  He is admitted to practice in all State and Federal courts in Mississippi, as well as the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Wood obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Mississippi in 2010 and his Master of Business Administration degree from The University of Mississippi in 2012.  He obtained his Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law in 2017, where he graduated magna cum laude.

While in law school, Mr. Wood served as an Editor for The Mississippi College Law Review, was a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society, and was a Jurisprudence Scholarship recipient.  Additionally, he served as a Research Assistant in the law school’s Legal Writing department and as a law clerk for Chief Judge L. Joseph Lee of the Mississippi Court of Appeals.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Jones County Bar Association where he currently serves as President, the Jones County Young Lawyers Association, and the Land Title Association of Mississippi where he previously served as a Chairman.

A lifelong resident of Laurel, Mr. Wood is active in the community.  Along with his wife and two daughters, he is a member of First Baptist Church of Laurel.  Mr. Wood is also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Laurel where he currently serves as President-Elect.
